Fair Housing & Non-Discrimination

Recovery housing is for everyone who is ready to do the work. Here is our commitment, and the rights you carry through the door.

Equal Housing Opportunity

Our commitment

Grounded Path Sober Homes provides housing without discrimination. We do not deny housing, set different terms, or treat any applicant or resident differently on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, ancestry, age, familial status, marital status, or disability. We follow the federal Fair Housing Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and all applicable state and local non-discrimination laws.

People in recovery are protected

Under the Fair Housing Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act, individuals in recovery from a substance use disorder are generally recognized as having a disability and are protected from housing discrimination. Recovery residences like ours exist, in part, because the law protects the right of people in recovery to live together in a supportive, drug- and alcohol-free home. Current, illegal use of controlled substances is not protected, which is why a drug- and alcohol-free environment is a core house requirement.

Reasonable accommodation

If you have a disability and need a reasonable accommodation or modification to apply, to live here, or to take part fully in the household, ask us. We will work with you in good faith to find a reasonable solution. To request an accommodation, email info@groundedpathsoberhomes.com and tell us what you need.

Resident rights

As a resident, you can expect:

  • To be treated with dignity and respect
  • House rules and fees that are clear, written, and applied consistently
  • Privacy and confidentiality consistent with house safety
  • A fair, documented process for concerns, complaints, and grievances
  • Reasonable notice and a fair process around discharge, consistent with house policy and applicable law
  • Freedom from retaliation for raising a concern in good faith

Grievances

If you believe you have been treated unfairly, tell us first so we can make it right. You may raise a grievance in writing to info@groundedpathsoberhomes.com. You also have the right to file a housing discrimination complaint with the agencies below.
